Getting Started with Chitika on Wordpress

Solution

Adding Chitika to your WordPress-powered blog:

1. Chitika to your Chitika account, click on “eMiniMalls Code”, customize the code to your heart's content and then copy the code from the bottom of the page.

   
   

2. Go to your WordPress dashboard (e.g. http://your-domain.com/blog/wp-admin/). At the top of the page, click on the part of the bar that says “Presentation:”

   
   
   

   
   

3. Click on “Theme Editor:” *Note: I am giving instructions for the “WordPress Default” Theme.

   
   
   

   
   

4. On the right side of the screen, you will see a bunch of "Theme Files." Depending on what theme you are using, these are going to have different names (Remember, I am discussing the WordPress Default Theme). You want to click the one called "Post Template:"

   
   
   
   
   

   
   

5. The problem here is that this code is not writable, so any changes you make to it will not be saved. To make the file writable, you can run the following command from the shell:

   chmod 777 wp-content/themes/default/single.php

   (*Note: If you do not have access to the shell, have your administrator do this for you.)

   
   

6. Now we are looking for the following line in the template code, and you want to paste your Chitika code right underneath it:

   
   
   

   
   

7. Click on the box labeled “Update” in the bottom-right corner:

   
   
   

   
   

8. Your ads will appear right below the content of your post something like the ad below:
